23-04 Stripes
This is available as a standalone pattern, but it comes free to knitters who participate in my workshop, “The Stripes go Marching Two by Two.” The next opportunity to take this class is with Hands On Knitting Center on July 25 .
This pattern is being released in conjunction with the month-long celebration of YARNIVAL with Hands On Knitting Center . HOKC is 12 years old this year, and you can receive 12% off the purchase price of this pattern throughout July by using coupon code YARNIVAL before checking out.
A simple rectangle is ingeniously seamed to create a cowl that wraps around your neck and tucks neatly down the front of your coat. Slip stitches, as well as knits and purls, create a textured fabric that traps air and keeps you insulated against the cold. It could be worked with a single colour of yarn, but here it is worked with two colours for visual interest as well as texture.
This is a simple project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete the project are:
- cast on and bind off;
- knit and purl:
- slip a stitch purl-wise;
- mattress stitch or baseball stitch seaming.
