#235 Blue Bayou
For questions on the pattern or to KAL, chime in here.
Here’s a perfect pattern for those lovely hanks of tonal fingering weight yarn. The one used here has subtle grey/blue shades throughout. Knitted up, the yarn color story adds just enough depth to complement the pattern stitches. The suppleness of the single-ply Merino wool makes for fast and fluid knitting with gorgeous stitch definition as well!
The shawl’s asymmetrical shape begins with a tapered end with twice as many increases on one edge as there are decreases on the other. The shaping is easily learned and followed throughout.
Intermittent open lace bands are then added and alternated with Garter stitch sections for lots of textural interest. Follow the sample exactly as is, or use the tips in the pattern to place the lace where you’d like for your own unique results!
Long, tapered ends allow this to drape beautifully around your neck as a modern scarf or to be worn artfully around your shoulders as a shawl.
