#236 Sea Glass
At one of our favorite beach vacation sites is a little craft booth, where kids can make jewelry by wire wrapping sea glass.
These gorgeous pieces of sea glass are simply ordinary glass shards that are naturally polished and made smooth by being tumbled in the ocean.
The shades of green and blue sea glass are soothing colors that will always remind me of our lovely beach outings. And here’s that same lovely color combination in a luxurious shawl, perfect for beach outings and then some!
The asymmetrical triangular shawl begins at one corner with easy increases along both edges. As you progress with the first Garter stitch section, you’ll quickly learn the increase pattern.
A fairly simple, bordered diamond lace is worked for the lace band. The Garter stitch sections and Lace bands are then alternated and knit with a varying number of rows to keep things interesting aesthetically and while knitting.
Near the end, join in the second color for the final Garter stitch and Lace bands.
Sample is knit in a seriously supple alpaca blend from Berroco that comes in mouthwateringly gorgeous, soft jewel tones. Choose just two colors (which was a challenge!), as I did, or add a few more color changes along the way if you wish.
