#25 Chinese Zodiac

This pattern is available for free.

Requires a log in to download the free ebook including all twelve zodiac animals.

Pattern Description from Knit.1, Fall/Winter 2008: “According to legend, the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac cemented their stature by being the first to cross the finish line of a race presided over by Buddha. They represent the characteristics of each particular sign. Ana Paula Rimoli’s playful stuffed toys, all made with Lion Brand Yarn’s ‘Vanna’s Choice,’ are single-crocheted in the round. The snake’s body differs, as do the arms and legs of the snake and rooster; otherwise, the silhouettes for each are exactly the same, with species-specific features of felt and embroidery.”

Materials:

  • Aran weight yarn in assorted colors
  • 9 mm plastic eyes with safety backings
  • Little pieces of craft felt
  • Size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook
  • Black, brown, and pink embroidery floss
  • Tapestry needle
  • Fiberfill, or stuffing of your choice.

Pages: 22-23.

NOTE! The pattern for the main body parts was available in the magazine only. The free pdf from Knit.1 Free Extras gave instructions for making the tails, ears, muzzles, horns, and combs only.
