This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004)

My brother, Mino, loved music. He mentioned his favorite album in the acknowledgement of his Ph.D. thesis, which is very unorthodox, but tells much about his personality. Jazz was one of his favorites: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Keith Jarrett.

This “2HB+S” series is designed with Double Herringbone Mesh (“2HB”) and Stockinette Stitch (“S”). “2HB” reminds me of jazz music. “Miles” is a single round cowl with two stitch patterns alternating in the round. Firm worsted weight yarn creates a solid texture despite the mesh pattern, and it will protect your neck area well from chilly wind.

Skills required: K, K2tog, P, Sl1-K2tog-psso, SSK, YO

Finished size (spray blocked): 9” x 21” circumference (23cm x 53cm)

All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.

Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU to meet Mino.
