Finally, a pattern for those of us who love argyle but dread colorwork!

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Skills: Simple knit and purl; Twisted knit and purl stitches; Basic single, half-double, and double crochet.

Instructions are written in both line-by-line and graph format. You choose how to read the pattern.

Two sizing options are available: Baby (32 x 42 inches / 81 x 107cm) and Throw (48 x 72 inches / 123 x 183cm).

Metric conversions are included.

One main color and two edging colors are needed for this pattern. Color recommendations are included with pattern. Ocean Blue, Natural, and Soft White were used for pictured sample.

Other recommended materials include stitch markers and a row counter.

If substituting yarn, keep in mind this pattern was designed to be best displayed using a yarn with plenty of sheen to highlight the background diamonds.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It has been brought to my attention that there is an omission in this pattern. There is no chart key.

I used the Aire River Design knitting font in Excel to chart this in 2009. I use a different charting program now, so I no longer have the font in my collection. I went searching for it online so I could download it again, but apparently I keep getting sent to a dead webpage. The font is no longer available. :(

I will do my best to describe the symbols and their meanings as follows:
-- The dashes are purls and the blanks are knits.
-- The upside-down “A”s are slipped stitches with the yarn always held at the wrong side (even-numbered rows).
-- The remaining special stitches are 2-stitch cables/traveling stitches, leaning left or right depending on which way the slope leans. You’ll see detailed descriptions on how to make these on Page 1 under the “Abbreviations” heading.

On Row 1, the special 2-stitch symbol is a TLC.

On Rows 3, 5 and 7, the first 2-stitch symbol is a TRC, and the second is a TLC.

On Rows 9, 11, and 13, the first 2-stitch symbol is a PRC, and the second is a PLC.

On Row 15, the first 2-stitch symbol is a TRC, repeated at the beginning of every stitch repeat, and the last symbol at the end of the row (at the end of only the very last repeat) is a PRC.

On Rows 17, 19, and 21, the first 2-stitch symbol is a PLC, and the second is a PRC.

On Rows 23, 25, and 27, the first 2-stitch symbol is a TLC, and the second is a TRC.
