This cowl is based on Elizabeth Zimmermann’s 3 spiral hat as found in “Opinionated Knitter”.

The cowl is wider at the shoulders and narrows at the nape of the neck to sit gracefully. There is a conch shell for a button which can be worn to the back or to the front for a more daring look. Use the same yarn as for your hat to make a set.

Note: there is some crocheting. You should only know how to chain for making the buttonhole.
