30/20/10 Winter Cowl
Scarves are a great addition to winter wear, but they can be blown lose during a blustery winter wind. Adjusting scarves in subzero temperatures isn’t exactly ideal. A seamless knit cowl isn’t going anywhere.
I call this the 30/20/10 Cowl because the cable designs are comprised of 30 stitches, 20 stitches and 10 stitches. Counting stitches (especially with cable knitting) can be frustrating, so I tried to organize the pattern in a way that’s easy to pick up if you’ve forgotten where you are on a particular round.
Skills: Cabling, knitting in the round
Sizes: Length: 8 inches. Extend the ribbing at the beginning or end of the pattern for a longer cowl.
Needles: 1 set of US 9 (5.5mm) circular needles or 4 US 9 Double Pointed Needles. The cowl pictured above was knit with circular needles.
Gauge: 18.0 sts = 4 inches
Yarn: Merino Worsted Yarn, at least 210 yards. Yarn pictured above: 1 skein of Malabrigo Yarn Worsted, 259 Charrua
Misc: Stitch marker
