Update your wardrobe with this tailored little vest. It’s the perfect layer over a blousy white button-down, or a simple tank or tee.

The vest is knit bottom up in one piece. Convenient pockets are knit in. At the underarms, the fronts and back are separated and finished individually with armhole, neck, and shoulder shaping.

The ribbed front edges and collar are picked up and knit in one piece, with buttonholes created along the right front. The ribbed armhole bands are picked up and knit in the round.

This vest is the transitional layering piece you’ll want to knit again and again in all the basic colors that will complement your wardrobe! Knit to a cropped length (18 ¼“ for size S, shown here), but could be easily lengthened with an inch or two added below or above the pocket openings and an extra buttonhole added to the bottom (tips for this optional hack included).
