3D Knitted Cushion

My husband’s first car was a VW Beetle and my son has just bought his first car. Guess what? It’s a Beetle! I wanted to pay some sort of tribute to this classic icon so here it is. A downloadable PDF pattern for a knitted cushion based on the VW Beetle. Hope you like it!
The cushion is made using super chunky yarn and worked on 7mm knitting needles. I used Wendy Serenity Super Chunky. It took 3 balls of the main colour which works out at 300g/240 meters. I also used 40g/32 metres of Cream and 50g/40 metres of Grey plus oddments of Red and Orange for the rear lights and some Yellow for the rear registration plate. You’ll also need a pair of 5mm needles, some toy filling, a 16″/40cm cushion pad and a 12″/20cm zip.
The finished cushion measures approximately 16″/40 cm at its widest parts.
The windows are knitted using the intarsia technique – there are lots of people with YouTube tutorials on this if you’ve not come across it before.

The pattern includes charts along with full written instructions and step by step photos on how to sew the cushion together.
