4-10 Mitten
Top down (knit from tip to cuff), “invisible thumb” style mittens. Body has a vertical stem or wave pattern, cuff has a band of diamonds then a band of stem and leaf pattern.
Written as women’s medium. Instructions are given for making other sizes by varying the yarn weight/gauge, or for modifying the design for cases where one doesn’t wish to use a different yarn.
Colorwork is diagrammed in charts.
This 4-stitch, 4-row repeat combines pleasing variety with utter simplicity. The asymmetry of the pattern makes the right and left thumbs different…. Duplicate stitch adds the third color to the leaf pattern on the cuff.
