4 Ounce Shawl
This amazingly economical shawl 43” square from only 4 ozs loses no warmth through its light weight. It is a fact that loose, airy fabrics hold more warmth than very closely knit ones.
The shawl is equally as lovely as an evening wrap, bed cape or baby’s shawl. It is quickly knitted on large needle in a charming “hole” pattern. Shetlanders call the holes “drops” as they resemble dewdrops in the early morning weather.
Materials
Requires 4 ozs of George Lee’s Target Campanula wool, 2 ply 1 pair no 5 needles “old ” English size (size 6mm)
Gauge
Over the main part and after dressing or blocking, 2 patterns (28 stitches) to 5.5” and 24 rows to 4” in depth.
The pattern is written and starts with centre square. The border is picked up from the center and knit in two sections. The edging is knit separately and sewn onto the border.
