4 Patch patchwork blanket
I love the effects of patchwork but prefer knitting!
With some leftover yarn to use up, I decided to knit squares and create a blanket. From my first trial and error attempts with colours and patterns, I have now formalised my experiments into a series of patterns inspired by patchwork quilts. This design is based on the 4 Patch block.
Knit using DK /#3/light worsted yarn, the blanket incorporates three colours and uses three knit stitches to make the 6”/15cm square blocks. You can of course use your own choice of knit stitches and colours. It is knit block by block and then sewn together, but you could knit in strips of blocks or all in one piece across the width of your blanket using the intarsia method to change yarn colour. The blanket is finished with a mitered corner border.
Finished size = approx. 36”/90cm square. Knit more blocks to make your blanket larger or smaller or into a rectangle shape.
