My Daughter received a play kitchen, toy foods and pots & pans from Santa this year. Watching her play with them, (and cleaning up after her when she was done) I decided she needed some mesh Market Bags to carry and store the food pieces in. Using 2 simple yarn-over lace patterns I designed 4 different string bags for her. Two of the bags are knit from the top down, the other 2 from the bottom up, all 4 are knit in the round with minimal to no joining or seaming.

Altogether the 4 bags took up almost an entire skein of Lion Brand Cotton Ease, leaving just a couple yards over when I was done. There is no gauge, but if you knit very loosely or increase the rounds of the lace patterns you will need a second skein of yarn to make all 4.

Please note that these are rather small bags for children’s play. Un-stretched, the main body of the bags measure approximately:
• Bag 1: 7inches wide by 4 inches tall.
• Bag 2: 5 inches wide by 8 inches tall.
• Bag 3: 5 inches wide by 6 inches tall.
• Bag 4: 4 inches wide by 5 inches tall.
There is a great deal of stretch to the lace patterns. So much that even with her 101 piece food set, I ran out of food to fill them with in the last photo and had to fill the bottom of one bag with the plastic balls from another one of her toys!

Also, please note, you will be getting ALL 4 patterns with this, not just one! .

Materials:
1 Skein Lion Brand Cotton Ease, or equivalent Aran weight cotton-based yarn
1 Set Size 8 Double Pointed Needles
1 Stitch Marker
1 Stitch Holder
1 Size G Crochet Hook to make chains for drawstrings (you can make them with i-cord on dpns instead but that would have taken me more than the single skein of yarn)
