Slash Neck Jumper
’A 1940s-inspired Long-sleeved Slash Neck jumper’

Inspired by the original 1940s jumper knitting patterns published in Stitchcraft Magazine, this new pattern is aimed at the beginner knitter.

It has a slash neck and a wide hem typical of the 1940s with a slight puff to the sleeve (instructions are also included for shoulder pads). There is a small stitch pattern giving a textured feel to the main body of the jumper.

The pattern uses modern 4-ply wool and is for two sizes: a 32” bust (around a UK size 8) and a 34” bust (around a UK size 10). The jumper could be made larger or smaller by using finer or thicker wool and/or smaller or larger needle sizes.

There are guides to blocking pieces and setting in sleeves plus a gallery of alternative stitch patterns that could be used for the main body of the jumper.

You will need:
300g of West Yorkshire Spinners’ Signature 4-ply wool (pictured in ‘Cherry Red’ and ‘Milk Bottle’)
1 pair of 3mm (UK no 11) and 1 pair of 3.25mm (UK no 10) knitting needles
A tapestry needle

MEASUREMENTS
Long sleeve seam is 18.5 inches (adjustable)
Hem to armpit is 13 inches (adjustable). Back measures 20.5 inches
