CABLES WITH SEED STITCH CENTERS

Because of the very large pattern stitch multiple, there is a big difference between the amounts of ease between each sweater size:
The ease for a size small is 6 inches-(15.2 cm)
The ease for a size medium is 8.5 inches-(21.5 cm)
The ease for a size large is 9 inches-(22.8 cm)
The ease for a size x large is 11.5 inches-(29.2 cm)

I thought the stitch pattern was so good looking that I decided to design a sweater using it anyway.
I wrote the pattern with two different multiples 24 stitches plus 14 stitches and 26 stitches plus 16 stitches.
The difference between two stitches or three stitches in reverse stockinette stitch between cables does not make a difference in the appearance of the finished pullover. It was necessary for getting the correct measurement needed. You should choose the size you would like the finished chest size of the finished pullover.

It is helpful to use the “measurements of the finished garment” to decide which size to make. The following measurements refer to this specific garment only. It can help you choose the look you prefer.

For your pullover to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase.

SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZES

• Size 6-(4mm) straight needles
• Size 9-(5.5mm) straight needles; or needles to obtain the correct gauge
• Cable needle
• Size 6-(4mm) circular needle, 16 inches-(40.5 cm) long
