DESIGN DETAILS
- Oversized cardigan—with approximately 6 inches-(15.2 cm) positive ease
- Slightly dropped shoulders
- Faced shawl collar
- Set-in sleeves
- American Southwest inspired
- Faux leather embellishment
PATTERN DETAILS
The fronts and back are cast-on-as one piece, from center front to center front, and worked to the armholes. This eliminates the need to match side seam stripes and weaving in yarn ends at the side seams. The yarn ends at the center fronts are knotted and tucked behind the sewn down facing. The only clean-up is along the armholes and sleeve seams. The clearly written pattern includes:
- Schematic for each piece
- A concise tracking/color stripe chart
- Diagrams and full explanations for techniques, some with links to selected videos
- A link for substitute yarn and other options
- I wrote the pattern in two sizes small/medium and medium/large. The difference sizes are achieved by knitting the sweater in two different gauges on different size needles

- Minimal yarn ends to hide
The fronts and back are cast-on as one piece, from right center front to left center front, and worked to the armholes. This eliminates the need to match side seam stripes and weaving in yarn ends at the side seams.
The center fronts and the collar are faced and the ends are knotted and tucked behind facing.
- Long tail cast-on
- K2, p2 ribbing
- Bind-off
- Stockinette stitch
- Two rows of Fair Isle knitting-two times on body and two times on each sleeve.
- Weaving stitches (sleeve bind-off) to rows (top few rows of armhole), each side of shoulder.
- Weaving rows to rows for the remainder of sleeve cap and sleeve seams.
Regardless of actual body measurements, everyone prefers a different finished look. It is helpful to use the “measurements of the finished garment” to decide which size to make. Click the schematic and size chart photo. It can help you choose the look you prefer
