This 5 colour fade cardigan is knit from the top down in one piece and the button band is knit at the same time so you don’t have to worry about picking up stitches once it’s finished.

The armholes are shaped with raglan increases, after which stitches are set aside for the sleeves to be knit later. The body is then completed with a ribbed edge. Finally, the sleeves are knit in the round and finished with a ribbed edge.

There is a worksheet provided with instructions on how to fade the colours to help you plan your garment.

Yardage for each of the 5 colours has also been provided. Get creative with your yarn choices. You can choose colours that go from light to dark or dark to light or just fade together yarns that make you happy. This is also a great pattern to stash bust your existing yarn.

The model in the picture wears the 4-6 year old cardigan and has a chest measurement of 61cm / 24 in.

Yarn
DK weight yarn. The yarn used was Orchidean luxury yarns 100% Superwash Merino DK yarn.

The pattern provides the yardage required for each of the 5 colours with a 10% buffer.

Needles
3.5mm (US4) straight or circular needles. DPN’s or circulars required for the sleeves.
4mm (US 6) straight or circular needles. DPN’s or circulars required for the sleeves.
16in/40cm circulars for 0-3mths (3-6mths, 1-2yr, 2-4yr)
24in/60cm circulars for (4-6yr, 6-8yr, 8-10yr) sizes.
Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches per 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches per 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

Tension after blocking
21 sts and 28 rows to 10cm/4in square in st st using 4mm (US 6) needles or needle size required to
match gauge.
