Gauge:
Top:
22 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm (4“) over stocking stitch, no stitches added for cable to give fitted garment using 4mm knitting needles or the size required to give the correct tension.

Cardigan:
22 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm (4“) over stocking stitch, 16sts added for cables using 4mm knitting needles or the size required to give the correct tension.

Check your tension – if less stitches use thinner needles if more use thicker needles.
