This knitting pattern is the first in a series of patterns for absolute beginners.

I hope this pattern will help you to learn to knit and to achieve an easy, although fairly big project, that will be suitable to keep, sell or even gift.

Firstly I will ‘talk through’ what needs to be done and why. I have links posted within the ‘talk through’ section of the pattern for you to click on, so you can see how methods are done, and the final page is the full knitted terms of how the pattern is written. Hopefully, with all the information you have to hand in the talk through, it will help you to understand how to read a pattern.

Within this pattern you will learn how to cast on, work in garter stitch and cast off, which are the methods that are needed for this blanket.

You will need:

Premature Size (Approx 20” x 20”)

200g 4ply, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch

Newborn Size (Approx 26”x 26”)

200g dk yarn, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch

Standard Size (Approx 31”x 31”)

300g aran yarn, 1 x pr 4.5mm needles making a tension of 17sts and 24 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch

Large Size (Approx 40”x 40”)

500g chunky, 1 x pr 6.5mm 40cm length needles making a tension of 14sts and 19 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch

This pattern has been designed by myself so it is in UK terminology. It does not follow the usual ‘shop bought’ format. There are 4 printed pages with clear and easy to follow instructions. All my patterns are tested by independent knitters before they are released, so every effort is made so that they come to you error free.

Although my patterns are strictly protected by copyright, which I ask you to respect, I am more than happy for any items made from my patterns to be sold.
