6DKB Popsicle Effect Hat
by Betty McKnit
This pattern is
available for free.
For this hat we are using color to create a 3D effect known in the 6-Day Kid Blanket Group as the “Popsicle Effect.” This effect was created and coined by Jeana Lynn Roberson. She uses a color smear technique to make the textured rows of crochet POP.
Jeana also came up with the idea to put two 6-Day Kid Blanket swatches together and seam them up to make a hat. Betty McKnit took her idea and came up with this pattern.
Enjoy, and many thanks to Jeana for her creative contributions.
You can also make a 6-Day Kid Blanket Hat without all these color changes, and choose your own effect - snowflake, half snowflake, defined stripes, or use self-striping yarn.
