70's Granny Square Cardi
This is a classic hexagon cardigan in the granny square clustered stitch. What is unique about this pattern is that it is highly customisable to any sizing and shape (eg. cropped or long). It also provides instructions for cinched cuffs and bottom edging, creating a silhouette similar to a bomber jacket. There are also fun added extras including pockets and a hood which are optional. This pattern also includes pictures for every step to assist with accessibility.
Gauge is not super important as the pattern is oversized and it recommends holding the hexagon up against the body to judge the number of rows needed for size.
I love using Caron Cakes in any colour for this cardigan but it is not necessary. Any yarn that is a medium/4 weight will have the same bulkiness. If you choose to use a thinner yarn, it will be a lighter cardigan and require more rows to meet the preferred size.
Additionally, I use 2 whole cakes for each side of the hexagon and 1 whole cake for the trims, pockets and hood. Based on which features you choose to include and your sizing, you may need more or less yardage than the base pattern.
I hope you enjoy making this cardigan as much as I do!
