#8 Lace Diamond & Cable Sock
This sock combines an open lace pattern down the front and back of the sock, with zig-zagging cables on both sides.
From the pattern:
The picture on the previous page depicts a cuff with a picot, 16 row hung hem. I prefer a ribbed cuff, as shown on the cover in the simplified version. Your choice. Directions here are with the 1x1 rib cuff. The pattern for the body of the sock needs to be knit without the ribber. I really love this pattern, though I feel it is the most difficult in the book.
This pattern is written for a circular sock machine. There are instructions for making this sock on a 72-, 60- and 54-needle cylinder. The corresponding ribber (36, 30 or 27) is required if doing a ribbed cuff.
Gauge and yardage requirements will vary with the size of cylinder you choose, the tension setting on your machine and how many rows you crank.
