95 in the shade
So this funny thing happened on the way to making this hat… I started the end of last year, and then fundraising for a trip to Korea Happened.. I had posted pics of what I was working on… online.. hehe oh well things happen.. anyway… I was working from a great book called the Japanese Stitch Bible… and someone beat me to publishing the original design… but as I had actually changed mine from how it was in the book, and because it was already out with testers.. I decided to carry on with it and publish it as a free pattern… so here it is .. the name… 95 in the shade.. is cause it was based on the pattern number 95 in the book… and in Korea… I nearly melted…
so its a fun wee beanie with a bit of cable and lace,, that twist and turn around each other.. looks really cool… hope you enjoy it as much as I did…
The trip to Korea was amazing.. I went with a group of Disabled Kiwis to Suwon in South Korea for 13 days.. we had a blast.. lots of hard work.. was we had 3 in Chairs… the food was totally fab.. the bullet train to Busan was fantastic.. We went in what was meant to be their rainy season… no rain.. but heat warnings as the temps went up to 39 degrees.. I think I spent a lot of the time with ice melting down my back… to survive….
If you get the chance… go for it.. its a fantastic country full of fantastic people… would go back tomorrow if the bank balance allowed.
Anyway onto the knitting… I used one ball of 100 grams of Fab New Zealand merino possum mix to bring this baby to life.. it needs a fairly plain yarn to make the pattern sing… use your fav Skeinz NZ DK yarn.. its a really easy pattern that gives you a fun hat… enjoy with my compliments
