9666 Crocheted Apron
From an envelope of sewing, crochet and knitting patterns dated 1947.
Crocheted Apron 9666 : This pattern contains directions to crochet the apron shown. This apron pattern is a 1940s loose leaf pattern that was part of a free offer - the original being labeled “This is your free gift”. This is a more advanced pattern in that it does not supply the chart, but more detailed direction on gauges and creating the blocks and spaces. It is quite a delightful design, with bottom band of three floral rows, as well as 4 vertical flower panels. It is a half apron, with ties.
Materials:
Use a No. 4 steel hook and mercerized, fast-color,string weight thread. The gauge is 7 filet spaces = 2” and 7 rows of spaces = 2”. You will need about 580 yards of cream thread (the basic color), 100 yards of pink, 22 yards of green, 25 yards of yellow, and 23 yards of blue.
