This pattern is my second collaboration with Kokon Yarn. The flower motif is worked not as embroidering but as weaving between the stitches while knitting. It is traditional Estonian technique and called “Roosimine”, which means Rose in Estonian language. The pattern made with this technique is called “Roositud”. Traditional Estonian Roositud patterns have quite geometrical form and are worked in a set of bright primary colors. I have designed my own flower Roositud. Traditionally it’s used for very tight gauge knitting like mittens, gloves or socks. Intentionally I have worked it in very loose tension with chunky mohair. It gave the motif a 3-dimensional look. The pattern is worked seamlessly from the top down. I hope you can enjoy knitting!

Designed to fit with 10–15cm / 4–6“ of positive ease. Sample is size S worn with 11 cm / 4.75 inches positive ease at bust.

Yarn

MC: 3 (3, 3, 4) (4, 4, 5, 5)(5, 6, 6, 7) skeins of Kokon Yarn Fingering Weight Merino (100% merino wool; 320 meters/100g), shown in color Madder.

874 (909, 965, 1022)(1083, 1160, 1321, 1426)(1577, 1694, 1883, 2061) meters / 956 (994, 1055, 1118)(1184, 1268, 1445, 1560)(1724, 1853, 2059, 2254) yards of fingering or sport weight wool yarn.

CC1 (Leaf): 2 mini skeins of Kokon Yarn Chunky Mohair, shown in color Cork.

or 15 meters / 17 yards of thick mohair yarn. You can also use 3 to 4 starnds of lace weight mohair yarn held together. Making crochet chain from mohair lace could also be a lovely alternative. (See video “knit with 3 strands from 1 ball”)

CC2 (Flower): 1 mini skeins of Kokon Yarn DK Weight Merino, shown in color Gold.

or 6 meters / 7 yards of DK or Worsted weight wool yarn. You can also use 2 starnds of fingering weight yarn held together.

Color Modification: You can change the color for each flower plant. One flower plant needs 150 cm / 59“ of CC1 and 60 cm / 24“ of CC2.

Needles: 4.5 mm / US 7 needle as main needle, 3.5 mm / US 4 for neck, hem and cuff. Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

Gauge: 20 sts x 28 rows = 10 cm /4“, with main needle in stockinette stitch after wet blocking.

Notions: 10 stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn, 10 small hair ties

このパターンは Kokon Yarn さんとの２回目のコラボレーションとしてデザインしました。

ヨークの花模様は刺繍ではなく、編んでいる途中で織物をするように、編み目の間に横糸を渡しながら作ります。エストニアの伝統技法で “Roosimine”（ロージミナ、エストニア語で薔薇という意味）と呼ばれています。また、この技法を使った模様のことを “Roositud”（ロージトゥト）と呼びます。伝統的なエストニアの “Roositud” はカラフルな糸を使って幾何学的な模様が織り込まれています。 技法の名前が花なので、私はお花の “Roositud” を作ってみました。本来は手袋や靴下のような密度の高い編み地に使われる技法なのですが、 極太モヘアを使って、敢えて、ゆる〜く、ふんわりと、模様が立体的に見えるように仕上げてみました。

森に因んだ名前にしようと、あれこれ考えて、 美しい森がある土地の名前を拝借しました。カレリアはフィンランドとロシアにある森と湖がたくさんある地方の名前です。

パターンは上から下に向かってトップダウンで編んでいきます。綴じはぎのないシームレス構造をしています。楽しんで編んでいただけると嬉しいです。

バストの仕上がり寸法: 86(92, 98, 104)(110, 116, 124, 132)(140, 148, 156, 164) cm

10〜15cmのバストのゆとりを想定しています。

サンプルはSサイズをバストのゆとり11cmで着用。モデルは身長172 cm、バスト87 cmです。

糸

MC（地糸）: Kokon Yarn の Fingering Weight Merino (100% メリノウール、320 m/100g) を 3 (3, 3, 4) (4, 4, 5, 5)(5, 6, 6, 7)かせ。サンプルはMadder(茜)を使用。

もしくは 874 (909, 965, 1022)(1083, 1160, 1321, 1426)(1577, 1694, 1883, 2061) m の中細〜合太糸 (= fingering 〜 sport weight)。

CC1（葉）: Kokon Yarn の Chunky Mohair のミニかせを２かせ。サンプルはCork（コルク）を使用。

もしくは 15 m のモヘアの極太糸。極細モヘアを 3〜4本取りにして使うことも可能です。また、極細モヘアをかぎ針で鎖にして使うのもかわいいかと思います。 （動画 “1玉から3本取りで編む方法” を参照）

モヘアの繊維は張りがあるので、葉っぱの模様が立体的に浮かびます。

CC2（花）: Kokon Yarn の DK Weight Merino のミニかせを1かせ。サンプルは Goldを使用。

もしくは 6 m のウールの並太糸（= DK 〜 worsted weight）。中細糸を２本取りにして使うことも可能です。

1輪ごとに、お花の色を変えることもできます。１輪に必要な毛糸は、CC1（葉）が 145 cm、 CC2 （花）が 60 cm です。

針: 長さ60cm以上の 4.5mm/US 7、日本規格 ８号の輪針をメインに使用。長さ60cm以上の3.5mm/US 4、日本規格 4〜５号の輪針を細い方の針として、襟ぐり、裾、袖口のリブに使用。ゲージに合わせて、針のサイズを調整して下さい。袖はマジックループを使って編みます。 もしくは輪針と同じ太さの4本棒針を用意して下さい。

ゲージ: 20目28段 = 10cm 太い方のメインの針 （メリヤス編みを水通してブロッキング）

その他: ステッチマーカー10個、とじ針、余り糸、子供用の小さな輪ゴム10個、メジャー（試着しながら編む時にあると便利です）
