As the title suggests, this double-breasted, A-line jacket is made sideways, starting at the right front edge for right-handed people, and the left front edge if you are left-handed. I have tried to write the pattern universally for everyone to follow easily. You will find stitch instructions in the Abbreviations and Stitch Instructions section, with explanations in Notes and helpful hints throughout the pattern.

The main part of the jacket is worked in one piece using chunky/bulky weight yarn, in a ribbed effect pattern, with shapings for the neck and armholes at the beginning of rows and the hem edge at ends of the rows.

Two sizes are explained, 107-112cm/42-44 inches and 117-122cm/46-48 inches chest measurements. I have also included hints for making a smaller and larger sized jacket than explained, i.e. approximately 96-102 cm/38-40 ins for the smaller size and approximately 127-132 cm/50-52 ins. Please check the measurements as you go.

There are no instructions for making the fastenings. The jacket is made without buttonholes.
