The main stitch motif in this shawl is a Shetland Bell pattern from the book Shetland Fine Lace Knitting: Recreating Patterns from the Past by Carol Christiansen. While the pattern, Bell with Clapper (page 142) forms a bell when knitted from the bottom up, it makes a lovely bell-shaped flower when knitted from the top down. The batt from which I spun the yarn was called Narwhal Pool Party from Hipstrings. The group noun for narwhals is a blessing so the shawl became a blessing of bellflowers.

This shawl is triangular and is knit from the top down with increases on every right-side row, worked at the edges and on each side of the center stitch.

I used a handspun yarn spun from a blend of merino, tussah silk, bombyx silk, angelina, and bamboo.

Warning - the pattern has not been test knitted by anyone other than myself so there may be errors. Please let me know if you find any and I will post a corrected version. Please make sure you have the most recent version. Thanks.
