A Boon of Friendship
“Boon” means a blessing or help and we all benefit from the blessing of friendship. I designed this shawl with the intent to donate its earnings to nonprofits and charities. It’s perfect for knitters of all skill levels and lends itself to being a meditative project. I hope that you find comfort in its details, whether you keep it or share it with a friend.
Notions needed:
32”-40”(80-100cm) circular needles (can use longer if desired)
Stitch markers
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Gauge & suggested needles:
17 sts & 26 rows in a 4”(10cm) stockinette swatch knit flat and blocked.
Knit using US 8/5.0mm needles.
Adjust needle size to acquire the right gauge
Finished measurements:
Approximately 55” X 27”(140 X 69cm) measured flat when blocked.
Suggested yarn:
530yds(485m) of Worsted weight yarn
About 220yds(201m) of Color A, and 310yds(283m) of Color B.
This will leave you with extra.
The sample shawl was knit using Blue Sky Fibers yarns:
Color A: Woolstok - 100% Fine Highland Wool.
370yd(338m)/150g. Color - October Sky. 1 skein.
Color B: Woolstok - 100% Fine Highland Wool. 123yd(112m)/50g.
Color - Spun Gold. 3 skeins.
