One woman’s tribute to the ephemeral beauty of life.
A very special commission, this rectangular stole has been designed with stitch patterns (Mrs. Montague’s, Antique Centre Pattern, bead insertion, Wave Lace) from the Shetland tradition. The borders and center are knit through from beginning to end with no grafting, a bead frame with a Cat’s Paw in each corner is joined to the center, and finally a wave edging is joined to the frame..
The pattern is suitable for different weights of laceweight yarn - heavy, fine, finer. The lace patterns are charted only, the skill level intermediate.
The pictured example was knit in the following:
Handspun by woolly-oolly
Yarn: Lincoln Longwool, 100g / 800m
Total yarn amount: 1262 meters
Needles: 2,5 mm
Finished size: 70 x 190 cm
