this is a pattern which is very quick and easy to make, and which you can customise yourself! If you wish you can match the colours to your own cat or make it as a gift to look like someone else’s cat.
It knits up in no time, requires very little in the way of materials, and is suitable for intermediate or advanced knitters, as you have to know how to do intarsia colour change method, or be able to google it in order to teach yourself - once you know the technique it is actually very easy to do.
The cat in the picture is modelled on one of my own cats, India, and is about 4 inches tall. However you can vary the finished result by using different sized needles and thickness of wool.
It is knitted flat on straight needles and has just one seam to sew down the back.

This is a harder pattern than my pattern for a cat called Grace - you need to know how to knit, purl, increase by knitting in front and back of a stitch (kfb), and decrease by knitting 2 together but for India, you also need to know how to colour change (intarsia method) using two balls of wool or by pulling the middle out of the ball you are using and working from two ends.

Materials: Approx 24 metres of wool in main colour and 6m in contrasting colour. Aran thickness works well, or chunky, 3mm straight knitting needles for a 4 inch cat, or 4mm makes a slightly bigger one. Sewing up needle and stuffing

This is for a PDF PATTERN only and not the finished item - this you will make yourself! This 2 page pdf pattern contains written instructions for making the cat.

The pattern uses USA crochet terms as these are most widely used and understood.

If you use the recommended yarn and hook size, this figure will come out at about 4 inches or 10cm tall.
