A Crochet Sports Cap
Australian/UK crochet terms are used.
From the pattern:
For general wear, for sports or motoring, the crochet cap has much to recommend it. When made in chenille it is not too hot for mid-season wear, and for autumn it would be most comfortable made in the soft wools that are to be had in great variety.
To make the cap illustrated 8 skeins of chenille or pure silk are required… If wool is used, two large balls of four-ply should be sufficient.
