You can download for free a method that can show you how to make a headband, the tutorial shows you how to make a band of braids - cables, it is easily adaptable for all sizes, you just have to make the band long enough, to fit the size of head needed for your project.

The pattern is available in USA terms as well as UK terms.

I have used DK yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook, but you can use any yarn and hook size to go with your yarn. Less than 100 grams should be enough.
