A Different Corner
A Different Corner is a shawl inspired by the George Michael song of the same name, using a soft dreamy yarn knit at a looser than normal gauge for a nice cosy drape. The slightly modified triangle shape helps it sit comfortably across the shoulders. The dimensions of the shawl as shown are 138cm/54” wide and 68cm/27” long.
Yarn – 4 skeins of Stranded In Oz Just For You DK: 40% Bamboo, 30% Cashmere, 25% Wool, and 5% Angora, 125m per 50g skein.
Alternative yarn: Stranded In Oz Soysilk DK: 100% Soysilk, 135m per 50g skein. You can use any DK/8ply yarn, however the drape/gauge and quantity needed may differ.
The pattern uses almost all of the required amount of yarn, so you may wish to have an extra skein just in case.
Needles - 5mm circular (80cm or longer) needles or size to obtain 14 stitches and 23 rows per 10cm/4” in stocking stitch once blocked. If gauge is not exact, it will affect the size of your shawl and the amount of yarn you use.
Stitch markers. Minimum 5.
Cable Needle.
Wool needle for weaving in ends.
