A Dozen Red
A Dozen Red is a lace cowl inspired by long-stemmed, red roses worked in sock yarn. I took the classic “rosebud” motif and added an extra layer of eyelet “petals” to make roses in full bloom. Twelve of them adorn this cowl, making a dozen long stemmed roses.
Finished measurements: 11” x 47” after blocking -- it can be worn long, or doubled for a closer fit
Yarns used: ~425 yards fingering weight yarn
Shown in Knit Picks Stroll, Firecracker Heather (2 skeins)
Gauge: 20 stitches & 28 rows in Stockinette Stitch after blocking
Notions:
US sz 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, 16 in (40 cm) or longer
waste yarn for provisional cast on
spare circular needle the same size or smaller for kitchener stitch
tapestry needle
cable needle (unless you can cable without one)
Notes:
This cowl can be made longer or shorter by repeating the lace sequence. Longer cowls will require more yarn.
