While every Star Wars film has had its share of iconic posters, the original poster for A New Hope is perhaps the most famous of all. Designed by twin brothers Greg and Tim Hildebrandt in 1977, this bold image helped the film attract a huge audience, converting the genre from nerdy to cool. Today, it remains one of the most recognizable film posters of all time.

Worked in the round from the cuff up, these traditionally shaped unisex mittens are worked in a small gauge, allowing for maximum detail. With a 2x2 twisted rib cuff, stranded colorwork creates two different scenes. Put the wearer’s hands together and images from the original poster appears: Luke wielding a lightsaber, Darth Vader’s sinister mask, the Death Star, and more create an action-packed scene on the outside of your hands! Flip them over and C-3PO, R2-D2, and other characters and artifacts from the Star Wars galaxy are hidden on the palm side. Afterthought thumbs and an optional third color for the star are added after the tops of the mittens are grafted shut.
