A Good Yarn Hat
I created this hat after Susan Post (owner of A Good Yarn - Sarasota and my good friend’s mom) sent me a care package during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I live in New York City and the pandemic really turned everything upside down. I hadn’t knit anything for more than a month and if you know me that means something really crazy was happening. The care package had a couple skeins of lovely Copper Corgi worsted weight wool (and a ton of cookies!) and I finally started knitting again. This hat was the product of that wonderful gift.
The hat is relatively straightforward, but because it does not have any ribbing it is very important to make sure that your gauge matches the hat that you want to make. As written this hat fits my head very well at around 23 inches. Adjusting the pattern to fit your head shouldn’t be too tough as the hat pattern is repeated every 4 stitches.
This hat works up to make a pretty thick and warm fabric because of all the slip stitches. Don’t forget ALL SLIP STITCHES ARE WITH THE YARN IN FRONT and be sure to make sure that your slipped stitches aren’t too loose or too tight.
You’ll need around 250y of worsted weight yarn to complete this pattern.
The PDF that you’ll download has two slightly different patterns - one for single color and one for alternating colors (there is a tiny change in the pattern in ordder to make switch between colors seamless).
If you can knit in the round and slip stitch you are ready to tackle this pattern!
