A Guiding Light
A Guiding Light is a large super squishy DK weight shawl. Perfect for a beginner who is wanting to jump into a shawl pattern for the first time. Lots and lots of garter in this one! This is a fun and fast knit!
Yarn
4 – 100 gram skeins of DK weight yarn. Sample used approximately: 377 grams/872 yards total. (see below for how much was used per colorway) Yarn used in sample is Woolfiend on the Pure DK base, 100 grams/231 yards, 100% Superwash Merino.
Color A: Rust Colorway (sample used approx. 193 grams/446 yards)
Color B: Godswood (sample used approx. 184 grams/426 yards)
Materials
- US 7/4.5mm circular needles. I recommend using at least a 32” cable.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
18 stitches/24 rows per 4” of blocked Garter Stitch
Finished Size
103” x 72” x 44”
Notes
- The shape of this shawl is asymmetrical triangle.
- Stitch counts are included at the end of each section, and throughout some of the longer sections. To help you check that you are on the right track.
Errata Section 9 should say “repeat rows 335-336”
