About the Pattern

This adorable sweater will be the favorite of any little one learning the alphabet! It is worked bottom up in two panels, and then seamed together with mattress stitch. You pick up and knit stitches for the collar and sleeves after the seaming of the body. The sweater is worked with 1 strand of Comfy Worsted yarn by Knitpicks throughout.
The apple graphic is charted only. It is recommended that you use a combinaton of intarsia and colorwork knitting to create the apple image.
You start by knitting the front panel from the bottom ribbing up. It is noted when you begin the chart. The neckline stitches are cast off and you work the shoulders separately. The back panel is knit in the same manner. Mattress stitch seam the panels together, leaving arm openings.
Pick up and knit the collar ribbing either with double pointed needles, or using the magic loop method. Recommended bind off is Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy bind off, to give your little one as much wiggle room as possible!
Pick up and knit the sleeves in a contrast color, and end with some colorful ribbing on the cuffs. I suggest using the colors you are already including in the chart!
The garment is designed to be slightly oversized, and you should choose the size that gives your baby 2-4 inches of positive ease.
