Actual gauge given is 1 pattern repeat (10 stitches) over 1.25 inches for smaller size. For larger size, instructions simply direct use of larger needles. A short double-pointed or cable needle is needed to work the trellis pattern. Three snap-fasteners/press studs needed for shoulder fastening.

Can be made with optional long sleeves. Quantities required are specified as 3oz dark and 3oz light of original wool (“Copley’s 3-ply Excelsior”), or 4oz of each colour for the long-sleeved variant.

Pattern includes diagram showing shape and measurements of each piece of jersey. The trellis design is obtained by carrying two stitches out of every six in the dark rows up over four light rows to the next dark row, where they are crossed over and knitted back in.
