This project is pure joy: soothing, repetitive, and meditative. I love a project that is easy to pick up, where I can see exactly where I left off without having to plan each next step.
It’s the kind of project that grows organically, using simple repetitions to produce a stunning, complex fabric with minimal effort. The wave pattern is paired with bold, saturated colors, to create a modern and eye-catching look.
The design is perfect for pairing a multicolored yarn with a solid or tonal yarn, adding that touch of vibrancy and contrast that makes this shawl so unique.
The shawl is started by casting on 5 stitches (with no need for a garter tab). The increase rate is 6 stitches every right side row: two stitches at each side and two in the center. The result is a shallow triangle with long wings, very comfortable to wear and keep on your shoulder.
Techniques: decreases (k2tog, ssk, central double decrease), increases (kyok, yo, make one right and left) and color change.
