This pattern will show you how to make A Little Love Monster. The concept is inspired by Rachel Borello Carroll’s “A Little Kindness Monster” and is a simple little stuffy that’s perfect for gifting.
I wanted to make sure it’s as accessible as possible for crocheters of all levels, so I designed this little softy with simplicity in mind. The body, legs, and ears are all one piece, with the arms crocheted directly on the side, so you won’t have to sew any fiddly pieces on. There is both a hdc and sc version, so you can make whichever you’re comfortable with. And it works up quickly with just a bit of scrap yarn.
I made mine using various scrap yarns and a G (4.0 mm) hook. Gauge isn’t crucial for this project, as long as your stitches are tight enough to keep the stuffing in (using the sc version of the pattern will help with this as well). I do tend to crochet tightly, so if you’re a more average or looser crocheter, I would recommend sizing down a hook.
You’ll also need some fiberfill stuffing and a tapestry needle for sewing the legs shut, stitching on the face, and weaving in ends. I used a pair of 10mm safety eyes for mine, but you can stitch on the eyes if you prefer.
I hope that you enjoy this pattern and that you find a chance to share A Little Love with someone to brighten up their day!
