A Mandala for Roswell
This pattern is a Mandala to commemorate the beginning of my husband’s journey with Adenocarcinoma (cancer in the duodenum. So rare it doesn’t have a group to support it or a ribbon color.)
My sample was made with Alize Miss Batik thread and a #7 crochet hook. You, however, may use any thread that you are comfortable with with a corresponding hook.
My sample has a diameter of 17 ½ “. Remember, if you use a size different from mine (crochet thread #10) your mandala will end up a different size.
My sample was made to fit in an 18: hoop, which I could not find. So I used Millinery Wire, which can be found online. I crocheted the last Rnd of the doily around this wire, overlaping about the last 4 inches of wire for security. (Now I can hang it in one of our windows.
If you prefer this to be a regular doily, just leave the wire off and you will have a beautifully flat doily.
The thread I used (Alize Miss Batik) is a self striping thread. You could make your doily out of self striping thread, change color at the end of each Rnd or make it all one color. The combination of colors that you might chose are endless.
