A Matching Hat
When I released my pattern called A Good Scarf the reception was all that I could have asked for. I was worried that I might be alone in my love of the traditional style of scarf. But I was wrong! And then, I started getting requests for a hat to match the scarf, and that I hadn’t expected.
A Good Scarf is pared down to the absolute minimum of details that I could manage to create a scarf pattern that the instructions were just a single row, and unfortunately that just isn’t possible with a hat. At some point you have to start decreasing to close the top and make it, well, hat shaped. So while this might not be as strikingly simple as the inspiration scarf, I have tried my best to make it as straightforward as possible while maintaining it’s primary mission … to match the scarf!
As with the scarf, this hat is knit in DK weight yarn, but should you be a fan of fingering weight you can always hold it double to approximate DK.
The yarn color I chose to use is Masquerade.
The sample I created is slouchy, but instructions are included on how to make a standard fit beanie as well.
Stitches used: k, p, slip, k2tog, p2tog, ssk, ssp, CDD
