This is a knitting pattern for The BEAF (a BEAnie and scarF combined) and instructions for lining (optional) to make your BEAF super comfy.

PATTERN INCLUDES SIZE: XL / 6-11 YEARS / 52.5-54.5 CM

The BEAF is warm and functional like a balaclava but looks cool. The beanie stays on like a hood for car rides, shopping etc. No more lost beanies! This is a balaclava reborn cool!

The pattern is in English.

Skill level: easy/intermediate

Knitted: in round and flat

You need:

3 colours of worsted weight / 10 ply (9 wpi) yarn. (Suggested: Svarta Fårets “Freja”, 100% Acrylic, 50g=130m.)

Note:This pattern is for a 3-colour combination. You can use fewer or more colours, just decide your colours and decide which parts to knit with each colour before starting the knit!

  • 16” circular and Double pointed needles size US 6 (3.5 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” = 20 sts x 29 rows (in stocking stitch).

Knit fabric, about 40 cm. (Suggested fabric: Jersey knit with 94 - 95% Viscose and 6 - 5% Elastane. About 240 g/m2.)

Sewing machine or overlock is optional because the lining can easily be hand stitched as well.

Stitches used:
K- knit
P - purl
K2tog - knit two stitches together
Ssk - Slip, slip, knit
And two colour stranded knitting
