A Nest of Mice
This is a crochet pattern for creating solid-colour coated mice.
When designing the mice, I wanted to make sure they would be visually distinct from my rat pattern. I achieved this by subtly altering the body shape and limbs to create the illusion of a smaller, differently proportioned animal, but the biggest changes come from the head: using larger eyes, a wider face and huge ears, I believe that my mice have a sweet character all of their own.
It is a written pattern with two PDFs, one for left-handed and one for right-handed crocheters; the difference is that the follow-along photos have been mirrored. I have written it in English using US notation, but all the stitches are either standard (so it’s easy to use a conversion chart) or fully described. The pattern does not require advanced stitches, but does have some complex/fiddly areas, hence the ‘intermediate’ difficulty. Where possible I try to include photos and descriptions to help guide you through, but please get in touch if necessary.
These are designed with little to no sewing required, for all amigurumi creators, like me, who hate the step of attaching body parts at the end. Everything is created in one piece, leaving just ends to weave in once you’re done.
The mice in the photos are all ~3inches long, not including the tails, and were made with a 2mm hook and DK yarn, although you could make them any size you want by choosing an appropriate hook and yarn size! I prefer to use 5mm plastic safety eyes in black, red and pink, but you can use beads or little knots/felted balls of yarn as well.
It is fine to sell any mice you make using this pattern, offline or online, but not the pattern itself or anything based on it.
