The “A New Leaf Beanie” was written in spring to signify the beginning of a new era in my life and will always hold a special place in my heart. It is a stunning design and a quick and fun knit!

Skill Level ~

Advanced beginner. There are written, picture and video tutorials to ensure success every step of the way.

Method ~

Knitted from the brim up and using two colours and the mosaic knitting technique. Instructions are included for adding a folded brim, contrast brim and tips are included throughout.

Size ~

Approximately 21.5 cm/8.5” wide by 23 cm/9” tall to fit adult size 56 cm/22” - 61 cm/54” head circumference.

You can substitute any yarn providing you meet the gauge and achieve a suitable fabric.

Needles and Notions ~

Yarn in chosen weight
40cm/16” circular needles and DPNs in sizes given for each yarn weight;
Aran/Worsted: 4 mm/US 6 and 5 mm/US 8
Light Chunky: 5 mm/US 8 and 6 mm/US 10
Chunky: 5.5 mm/US 9 and 6.5 mm/US 10.5
Light Super Chunky: 6.5 mm/US 10.5 and 8 mm
Super Chunky: 8 mm/US 11 and 9 mm/US 13
Stitch marker
Darning needle
Scissors
Pom–pom and tag as desired

Gauge ~

Gauge is given in pattern and knitted in the round using the recommended needle size for each yarn weight. Measurements should be taken unstretched and unblocked.

Aran/Worsted ~ 28 sts and 27 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 11
Light Chunky ~ 16 sts and 22 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 10
Chunky ~ 15 sts and 19 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 8
Light Super Chunky ~ 14 sts and 18 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm/4” x 4”. WPI - 7
