The “A New Leaf Beret” is a modern twist on a trending favourite. It offers a choice of three different yarn weights for one size, with suggestions given on construction to allow for further sizes. It is knitted in the round from the bottom up using the mosaic knitting technique and Latvian braids.

Skill Level ~

Advanced beginner. There are written, picture and video tutorials to ensure success every step of the way.

Method ~

Knitted from the brim up using Latvian braid techniques and two colours with mosaic knitting technique.

Size ~

Band measures 5 cm/2” tall with a 46 cm/18” circumference to fit adult size 56 cm/22” - 61 cm/24” head circumference. Length from bottom edge to crown in 23 cm/9”.

Yarn ~

4 Ply/Fingering - MC 178 m/190 yds, CC 49 m/54 yds.
Double Knit (DK) - MC 151 m/165 yds, CC 40 m/44 yds
Aran/Worsted - MC 133 m/145 yds, CC 31 m/34 yds

Suggested Yarn ~

4 Ply/Fingering ~ Fyberspates Vivacious 4 ply, Symfonie Yarn Terra.
Double Knit (DK) ~ Malabrigo Silky Merino, Malabrigo Arroyo.
Aran/Worsted ~ Malabrigo Worsted, Malabrigo Washted.

You can substitute any yarn providing you meet the gauge and achieve a suitable fabric.*

Needles and Notions ~

40cm/16” circular needles and DPNs in sizes given for each yarn weight;
4 Ply/Fingering ~ 2.75 mm/US 2 and 3.5 mm/US 4
Double Knit (DK) ~ 3.25 mm/US 3 and 4 mm/US 6
Aran/Worsted: 4 mm/US 6 and 5 mm/US 8
6 stitch markers, including one that is different to denote EOR
Darning needle
Scissors
Pom–pom and tag as desired

Gauge ~

Gauge is given in stockinette, knitted in the round using the larger recommended needle size for each yarn weight and over 10 cm by 10 cm. Measurements should be taken unstretched and unblocked.

4 Ply/Fingering ~ 28 sts and 36 rnds. WPI - 19.
Double Knit (DK) ~ 24 sts and 30 rnds. WPI - 14.
Aran/Worsted ~ 22 sts and 26 rnds. WPI - 11.
