A Poet Dreams of Warmth Capelet
First a word of caution: This is not a full pattern written out in traditional form. This is my pattern notes, diagrams for the basic stitch pattern, increases, and decreases, and tips and tricks to create your own version of the A Poet Dreams of Warmth Capelet. Your own yarn needs, type, hook size, and garment size and shaping can be altered by you to fit your needs exactly by using the notes and making adjustments where you need. There will be math. There will be measuring. There be swatch making, washing, and blocking. This pattern allows you to make a garment specific to your style and size needs with the yarn and hook size of your choice. I used about 1300 yards of fingering weight yarn to make a medium to large capelet. You will have to determine your own yarn needs based on the yarn you personally choose for this project.
A Poet Dreams of Warmth is a capelet I made to celebrate my friend publishing her first book of poetry. It’s a refined little cape created with double crochets and post stitches. There is a bit of textured lace at the neck and the hem. The stitch pattern is easy to follow and the post stitches serve as indicators for where to put the increases. No stitch markers necessary! No pesky counting except to see if you reached 11 stitches yet. This is a nice, relaxing project to get into a rhythm with and just go. There are diagrams for the basic pattern and the increases that you can use for this wrap or your own project. I have a discussion of different sizes and how to adjust the pattern to accommodate your specific size needs. If you are up for a bit of designing fun, come along!
