A Quick Well-Shaped Hat
Summary: a quick and well-fitting hat knit in the round from the top down (Magic Loop) in bulky or super-bulky yarn at a gauge of 3 st/inch. A one-skein pattern: size medium/large takes about 70 yards of bulky or super-bulky yarn; works well with hand-painted and striped yarns as well as plain yarns. A slight shaping at the hem gives good coverage over the ears without blocking the eyes. Offered in 3 sizes: small/child, medium/large, and extra large. Includes crossed cables knit without a cable needle. Three top options: flat, knotted, or looped.
Since the hat is knit from the top down on a long circular needle, it can be tried on as you knit.
Tested in Rowan Big Wool, Noro Bonbori, and Lamb’s Pride Bulky.
